FAQ

Climate-Controlled Storage FAQ, Lifetime in Iowa Park TX

Plain answers to every question we get about climate-controlled storage. 36 questions across six categories: climate definitions, what climate is good for, pricing & rentals, access & security, location (Iowa Park vs Wichita Falls vs Sheppard AFB), and moving in. No marketing fluff. If the answer is "it depends" or "rent somewhere else," we say so.

What climate-controlled storage means

What does climate-controlled storage actually mean?

It means the unit is kept inside a set temperature range all year instead of following the weather outside. At Lifetime, every one of our 86 units stays between 55°F and 80°F with relative humidity under 60%. That covers both temperature and humidity, year-round, on every rental.

What is the temperature range inside your units?

Between 55°F and 80°F year-round. The system runs cooler in summer and warmer in winter, so the inside never gets near outdoor extremes. No 100°F-plus summer heat and no freezing winter cold.

What humidity range do you maintain?

Under 60% relative humidity year-round. In steady weather we usually run 40 to 55% RH. The HVAC system is sized for the full 86-unit building and steps up dehumidification during summer humidity spikes.

What is the difference between climate-controlled and humidity-controlled storage?

Climate-controlled usually refers to temperature only, which means humidity can still swing with the weather outside. Humidity-controlled adds active dehumidification on top of that. At Lifetime both come standard on every unit, so for us the two terms mean the same thing.

Is climate control included in the base price, or is it an upcharge?

It is included. We are a 100% climate-controlled facility, so there is no "climate vs standard" tier and no upcharge. Every unit price on our homepage already includes temperature and humidity control.

Do you rent drive-up storage containers in Iowa Park?

Yes. In addition to the 86 indoor units inside our climate-controlled building, we rent 12 drive-up portable containers of 160 sq ft each. The containers are not climate controlled, so they are the right call for lawn equipment, tools, and other non-sensitive items you want to unload straight from a truck.

What climate-controlled storage is good for

What kinds of items benefit most from climate-controlled storage?

Wood furniture, electronics (especially anything with a battery or sensitive capacitors), musical instruments, photographs, important documents, artwork, leather goods, vinyl records, antiques, wedding dresses, fabric items, and consumables with humidity windows like wine and cigars. A simple test: if you would not leave the item in your attic for a year, do not put it in a non-climate unit either.

Do I need climate control for storing furniture in Texas?

For wood furniture, leather furniture, or upholstered items stored longer than 90 days in North Texas, yes, we recommend it. Texas humidity swings make wood warp and joints separate, and leather molds above 60% RH or cracks below 40%. Upholstery can mildew too. For metal patio furniture or items you do not particularly care about, non-climate is fine.

Will climate control protect my electronics?

Yes. Climate control prevents the heat-driven battery degradation and humidity-driven contact corrosion that damage electronics in non-climate storage. For laptops, gaming consoles, TVs, stereo equipment, drones, and similar items stored more than a few months, we strongly recommend it.

Is climate-controlled storage worth the money?

It depends on what you store and for how long. For short stays under 90 days, or for items that do not care about heat (metal tools, plastic bins of clothes, garage overflow), non-climate storage is plenty. For long-term storage or anything sensitive like electronics, wood, leather, paper, or instruments, the gap between intact and ruined belongings is far bigger than any price difference. Our rates are competitive with non-climate units of the same size in Wichita Falls, so climate is not a luxury premium here.

Do you have units cold enough for wine storage?

Our units run 55°F to 80°F. That is good for general furniture and electronics, but warmer than a dedicated wine cellar, which usually holds 55°F constant. For short-term wine storage of months rather than years, and for inexpensive bottles, our units are fine. For investment-grade collections, a dedicated wine-storage facility is the better call.

Can I store antiques and a piano near Wichita Falls so the heat does not ruin them?

Yes, that is exactly what climate control is for. Antique wood, veneer, felt hammers, and glue joints all fail when temperature and humidity swing, and North Texas swings hard in both directions. Our building holds between 55°F and 80°F with humidity under 60% year-round, so pianos, antique furniture, and other heirlooms stay stable through summer heat and winter cold.

Can I store business records and inventory in a climate-controlled unit?

Yes. Paper records, electronics, and retail stock all hold up well in stable conditions, which is exactly what a climate-controlled unit gives you. Files stay flat and legible, packaging does not warp or mildew, and month-to-month terms make it easy for a business to size up or down as inventory changes.

Pricing and rentals

How much does climate-controlled storage cost at Lifetime?

Our units range from compact 5x5 lockers up to 14x14 rooms. All 86 units are climate- and humidity-controlled at the base price. You can see live availability and current pricing for every size on our homepage.

What sizes do you offer?

Sizes range from a 5x5 locker (25 sq ft, for a few boxes) up to a 14x14 room (196 sq ft, for a 3-bedroom household), with many options in between. All are climate- and humidity-controlled interior units. See live availability and current pricing for every size on our homepage.

Are there extra fees beyond the monthly rent?

Two. There is a one-time $20 admin fee at move-in, which is an account setup fee and does not include a lock, so bring your own. There is also a SafeLease tenant protection plan (from $12 per month, tier chosen at checkout), waived if you provide proof of homeowner or renter insurance within 30 days of move-in. No hidden fees, and no required deposit beyond the first month of rent.

Do you offer move-in discounts or promos?

No. We do not run move-in specials or teaser rates. The rate you sign up at is the real ongoing rate, with no first-month games. We would rather give every renter a steady, honest price than a discount that disappears after month one.

Are leases month-to-month or do I need to commit to a year?

Month-to-month on every rental. No minimum term, no annual commitment, no early-termination penalty. Store for a single month or for 24 months. Same lease, same rate.

How do I rent and pay?

You can reserve online in about 5 minutes at lifetimeccs.com. Pick a size, sign the rental agreement, pay the first month plus the $20 admin fee, and your gate code arrives right away. You can also call (940) 400-0920. Monthly payments are auto-billed, and you can manage your account, update your payment method, or pay manually through the online portal anytime.

Where can I rent a 10x10 climate-controlled unit near Wichita Falls?

At Lifetime in Iowa Park, about 15 minutes from west Wichita Falls. Our indoor climate-controlled units run from 5x5 up to 14x14, which includes the 10x10, and live availability and current pricing for every size are on our homepage.

Access and security

Are you open 24/7?

Yes. You get 24/7 gated access every day of the year, holidays included. You enter the property with your personal gate code at the keypad and get to your unit on your own schedule.

How secure is the facility?

We have keypad-gated entry with a personal code for each tenant, 24/7 video surveillance, well-lit interior corridors, and a fully fenced perimeter. The building is interior-corridor rather than drive-up, which adds a layer of physical security you do not get at an outdoor drive-up facility.

Do I need to provide my own lock?

Yes. Tenants provide their own lock, and we recommend a round disc-style lock for the best security and fit. The one-time $20 admin fee is an account setup fee and does not include a lock.

Is there an office or staff on-site?

There is no full-time office staff at the facility. All rentals, payments, and account management happen online or by phone, 24/7. Our Uniti chatbot (Emma) handles most after-hours questions, and calls to (940) 400-0920 are answered by our team during business hours.

Iowa Park, Wichita Falls, and Sheppard AFB

Where is Lifetime located?

400 W Park Avenue, Iowa Park, TX 76367. The facility sits on the south side of W Park Avenue about half a mile south of the FM-368 / US-287 exit.

How far are you from Wichita Falls?

10 to 14 miles, depending on which neighborhood you start from. The drive runs 12 to 18 minutes on US-287 west out of Wichita Falls. We serve all of Wichita Falls, and our dedicated Wichita Falls climate storage page has drive-time breakdowns by neighborhood.

How far are you from Sheppard AFB?

About 10 miles west of the Sheppard AFB main gate, roughly a 15 to 20 minute drive on US-287 W. We serve active-duty service members, contractors, and families stationed at Sheppard, especially for PCS moves and deployments. Our Sheppard AFB storage page has the details.

Are you the only climate-controlled storage in Iowa Park?

Yes. Lifetime is the only climate-controlled storage facility in Iowa Park. Other facilities in the area offer non-climate drive-up or container storage.

Do you serve Burkburnett, Holliday, and other nearby towns?

Yes. We are about 8 miles north of Holliday (12 minutes) and 22 miles southwest of Burkburnett (28 minutes), and Electra is a straight run in on US-287 from the west. Renters from all three towns store with us, especially for climate-sensitive belongings that the local non-climate options would not protect.

Do you serve Burkburnett and Electra?

Yes. Both towns are a short drive from our Iowa Park facility, and because we sit just outside Wichita Falls, renters from Burkburnett and Electra typically pay less per square foot here than at most in-city options.

Moving in and managing your unit

Can I move in the same day I reserve?

Yes. The online reservation takes about 5 minutes. Pick a size, sign, pay, and your gate code arrives right away. Same-day move-in is the norm, and we do not require an in-person office visit before you move in.

Do you provide carts, dollies, or moving help?

There is a 4-wheel cart on-site for tenants to use during move-in and move-out, and several customer reviews mention it. We do not provide movers or truck rental. The closest truck rentals are U-Haul in Wichita Falls.

What information do I need to rent?

A valid government-issued ID, a payment method (credit, debit, or ACH), and the address of the unit you are moving from or to. It is a standard rental agreement with no credit check and no co-signer required.

What is your move-out process?

Empty the unit, sweep it out, take your lock, and let us know through the online portal or by phone. As long as the unit is vacated by the end of your paid period, there is no penalty. We do not pro-rate partial months on move-out.

Can I switch unit sizes during my stay?

Yes, when one is available. Switching sizes works like moving out of your current unit and into a new one, so just contact us to coordinate it. Because leases are month-to-month, switching carries no contractual penalty.

How do I contact you with questions?

Call (940) 400-0920 during business hours, use the Uniti chatbot on the homepage anytime, or email info@lifetimeccs.com. Our team replies to email within one business day.
