FAQ

Climate-Controlled Storage FAQ — Lifetime, Iowa Park TX

Plain answers to every question we get about climate-controlled storage. 31 questions across six categories: climate definitions, what climate is good for, pricing & rentals, access & security, location (Iowa Park vs Wichita Falls vs Sheppard AFB), and moving in. No marketing fluff — if the answer is "it depends" or "rent somewhere else," we say that.

What climate-controlled storage means

What does climate-controlled storage actually mean?

Climate-controlled storage means the storage unit is kept within a defined temperature range year-round, instead of tracking outdoor weather. At Lifetime, every one of our 86 units is held between 55°F and 80°F with relative humidity below 60% — both temperature AND humidity regulation, year-round, on every rental.

What is the temperature range inside your units?

Between 55°F and 80°F year-round. The system runs cooler in summer and warmer in winter so the interior never approaches outdoor extremes — no 100°F+ summer heat, no freezing winter cold.

What humidity range do you maintain?

Below 60% relative humidity year-round. In stable weather we typically run 40–55% RH. The HVAC system (rebuilt in 2025) is sized for the full 86-unit envelope and steps up dehumidification during summer high-humidity events.

What is the difference between climate-controlled and humidity-controlled storage?

Climate-controlled usually refers to temperature regulation only — humidity may swing with outdoor weather. Humidity-controlled adds active dehumidification on top of temperature regulation. At Lifetime, both are included as standard on every unit; the two terms are equivalent here.

Is climate control included in the base price, or is it an upcharge?

Included. We are a 100% climate-controlled facility — there is no "climate vs standard" tier and no upcharge. Every unit price you see on our homepage already includes temperature and humidity regulation.

What climate-controlled storage is good for

What kinds of items benefit most from climate-controlled storage?

Wood furniture, electronics (especially anything with a battery or sensitive capacitors), musical instruments, photographs, important documents, artwork, leather goods, vinyl records, antiques, wedding dresses, fabric items, and any consumables with humidity windows (wine, cigars). If you would not store the item in your attic for a year, you should not store it in a non-climate unit either.

Do I need climate control for storing furniture in Texas?

For wood furniture, leather furniture, or upholstered items stored longer than 90 days in North Texas — yes, we recommend climate control. Texas humidity swings cause wood to warp and joints to separate, leather to mold above 60% RH or crack below 40%, and upholstery to mildew. For metal patio furniture or items you do not particularly care about, non-climate is fine.

Will climate control protect my electronics?

Yes. Climate control prevents the heat-driven battery degradation and humidity-driven contact corrosion that damage electronics in non-climate storage. For laptops, gaming consoles, TVs, stereo equipment, drones, and similar items stored more than a few months — climate-controlled storage is strongly recommended.

Is climate-controlled storage worth the money?

The honest answer depends on what you store and how long. For short-term (under 90 days) or non-sensitive items (metal tools, plastic bins of clothes, garage overflow), non-climate storage is sufficient. For long-term storage or anything climate-sensitive (electronics, wood, leather, paper, instruments), the difference between intact and damaged belongings dwarfs the price difference. At Lifetime our rates are competitive with non-climate units of the same size in Wichita Falls — climate is not a luxury premium here.

Do you have units cold enough for wine storage?

Our units run 55°F to 80°F — appropriate for general furniture and electronics, but warmer than a dedicated wine cellar (typically 55°F constant). For short-term wine storage (months, not years) and inexpensive bottles, our units are adequate. For investment-grade wine collections, a dedicated wine-storage facility is the right choice.

Pricing and rentals

How much does climate-controlled storage cost at Lifetime?

Our units range from compact 5x5 lockers up to 14x14 rooms. All 86 units are climate- and humidity-controlled at the base price. See live availability and current pricing for every size on our homepage.

What sizes do you offer?

Eight standard climate-controlled sizes — 5x5, 5x10, 9x9, 9x10, 10x10, 10x11, 10x14, and 14x14. Sizes range from 25 sq ft (5x5 locker for boxes) to 196 sq ft (14x14 room for a 3-bedroom household). All are climate-controlled interior units.

Are there extra fees beyond the monthly rent?

Two: a one-time $20 admin fee at move-in (includes a lock you keep), and a $12 monthly tenant protection plan (SafeLease) — waived if you provide proof of homeowner or renter insurance within 14 days of move-in. No hidden fees, no required deposit beyond the first month rent.

Do you offer move-in discounts or promos?

Promotional offers are configured on the homepage and may change. Our pricing-engine policy generally avoids deep first-month discounts in favor of an honest, competitive base price. Check the homepage for any active promo.

Are leases month-to-month or do I need to commit to a year?

Month-to-month, every single rental. No minimum term, no annual commitment, no early-termination penalty. Store for a single month or 24 months — same lease, same rate.

How do I rent and pay?

Reserve online in about 5 minutes at lifetimeccs.com — pick a size, sign the rental agreement, pay the first month plus the $20 admin fee online, and receive your gate code immediately. You can also call (940) 400-0920. Monthly payment is auto-billed; you can manage your account, update payment method, or pay manually through the online portal at any time.

Access and security

Are you open 24/7?

Yes — 24/7 gated access for every tenant, every day of the year, including holidays. You enter the property with your personal gate code at the keypad and access your unit on your schedule.

How secure is the facility?

Keypad-gated entry with personal codes per tenant, 24/7 video surveillance, well-lit interior corridors, and a fully fenced perimeter. The building is interior-corridor (not drive-up) which adds an additional layer of physical security versus an outdoor drive-up facility.

Do I need to provide my own lock?

No — a lock is included in the one-time $20 admin fee at move-in. You can also bring your own lock if you prefer.

Is there an office or staff on-site?

There is no full-time physical office staff at the facility. All rentals, payments, and account management happen online or by phone, 24/7. Our Uniti chatbot (Emma) handles most after-hours questions; calls to (940) 400-0920 are answered by our team during business hours.

Iowa Park, Wichita Falls, and Sheppard AFB

Where is Lifetime located?

400 W Park Avenue, Iowa Park, TX 76367. The facility is on the south side of W Park Avenue about half a mile south of the FM-368 / US-287 exit.

How far are you from Wichita Falls?

10 to 14 miles, depending on which neighborhood you start from. The drive is 12 to 18 minutes via US-287 west out of Wichita Falls. We serve all of Wichita Falls — see our dedicated Wichita Falls climate storage page for drive-time breakdowns by neighborhood.

How far are you from Sheppard AFB?

Approximately 10 miles west of Sheppard AFB main gate — a 15- to 20-minute drive via US-287 W. We serve active-duty service members, contractors, and families stationed at Sheppard, especially for PCS moves and deployments. See our Sheppard AFB storage page for details.

Are you the only climate-controlled storage in Iowa Park?

Yes. The other Iowa Park storage facilities (Iowa Park Storage, Rifle Range Road Storage, and North Texas Storage Containers) are non-climate, drive-up or container-style. Lifetime is the only 100%-climate-controlled facility in Iowa Park, and the closest one to Wichita Falls.

Do you serve Burkburnett, Holliday, and other nearby towns?

Yes. We are about 8 miles north of Holliday (12 minutes) and 22 miles southwest of Burkburnett (28 minutes). Renters from both towns store with us, especially for climate-sensitive belongings where the local non-climate options would not protect them.

Moving in and managing your unit

Can I move in the same day I reserve?

Yes. Online reservation takes about 5 minutes — pick a size, sign, pay, and receive your gate code immediately. Same-day move-in is the norm. We do not require an in-person office visit before move-in.

Do you provide carts, dollies, or moving help?

A 4-wheel cart is available on-site for tenant use during move-in and move-out (mentioned positively in multiple customer reviews). We do not provide movers or truck rental; the closest truck rentals are U-Haul in Wichita Falls.

What information do I need to rent?

A valid government-issued ID, a payment method (credit/debit/ACH), and the address of the unit you are moving from or to. Standard rental agreement — no credit check, no co-signer required.

What is your move-out process?

Empty the unit, sweep it out, take your lock, and notify us via the online portal or by phone. As long as the unit is vacated by the end of your paid period, there is no penalty. We do not pro-rate partial months on move-out.

Can I switch unit sizes during my stay?

Yes, subject to availability. Switching sizes is essentially a move-out from your current unit into a new one — contact us to coordinate. Because leases are month-to-month, switching has no contractual penalty.

How do I contact you with questions?

Phone (940) 400-0920 during business hours; the Uniti chatbot on the homepage 24/7; or email info@lifetimeccs.com. Our team responds to email within one business day.
